About Kimberly
Kimberly Godsey is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology. She has over 20 years experience in healthcare starting with serving in the Army National Guard as a flight medic in an assault helicopter battalion. She graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati with a Masters degree in Nursing. In 2013 she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau for outstanding academic achievement. She practiced at The Christ Hospital for a decade before moving to California and starting the heart failure program at Montage Health in Monterey. She has a broad range of experience including critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, heart failure, palliative/ hospice care and clinical research. She works closely with patients to improve their health through the mind-body connection and lifestyle modifications. She is especially passionate about improving health care for individuals who are socioeconomically disadvantaged. She lives with her husband, 3 daughters, 2 dogs and 2 cats. In her spare time she loves to be active and do anything outdoors like running, hiking, biking, boating and kayaking.

Over the last week I started writing in my mindfulness journal that I’ve had for years and have never taken the time to open. It takes less than 5 minutes a day and each week has a different purpose week one has been gratitude. And although I started working out again a few weeks ago this week it was like my workout had a different intent instead of it being something I had to do something I needed to do to lose weight it was something I wanted to do for me and I found not only do they enjoy the workout more but I ended up working out more than I was the prior weeks and some of that is because I found out ways to do a 5-minute stretch here and a 10 minute ab workout there and I walk here and I’ll look there and spreading it throughout the day has enabled it to fit into my lifestyle a lot better. Although I started feeling healthy a couple of weeks ago (less work stress and working out) … I’ve never felt healthier mentally. And I think it’s because for once I feel like I’m taking care of me and I have a whole lot more capacity for everything else. Your talk was extremely impactful and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to it. -Kate N.
